When Away Resorts came to Creature Encounters with a clear and demanding brief — transform their beloved brand ambassador Bear into a world-class character experience — we built them something that exceeded their own expectations.
The challenge was performability. Reduce weight. Increase movement range. Improve the aesthetic. Preserve everything audiences already loved about Bear while giving performers the tools to do something genuinely extraordinary with him. The solution was a lightweight, highly performable rigging system — multi-directional head, opening and closing mouth, blinking eyes, interchangeable arms — built around the performer's movement vocabulary, because a character suit is only as good as what a performer can do inside it.
Once the initial Bear was signed off and tested across the estate, we replicated a further two suits and supervised the full audition and training process. Three Bears. One consistent, world-class character experience, deliverable simultaneously across the Away Resorts portfolio.
